Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Health
Mary M. Flynn, PhD, RD, LDN
In her research, Dr. Flynn has found that people raised on diets that include extra virgin olive oil on a daily basis have lower rates of most chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, arthritis, and type 2 diabetes. Extra virgin olive oil has been shown to decrease a number of risk factors for these chronic diseases.
Dr. Flynn is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She is also a research dietician at the school's Miriam Hospital and is the founder of The Olive Oil Health Initiative of the Miriam Hospital.
